Historically the seat of the Ming and the Qing emperors, no one could enter or leave the Forbidden City without permission.
Located in the middle of Beijing, China, this UNESCO site now houses the Palace Museum, with nearly 1,000 rooms in over 800 buildings. You can get a feel for what it was like to live the imperial life and see part of the largest collection of ancient wooden structures in the world.
