The trip was very good, particularly the amount of time at the market in Alkmaar (though a better explanation would have helped) and the visit to the windmill. However, we were very disappointed in the guide. We subsequently learned that several of the things he told us were not true. First and foremost, he said that we should not buy cheese at the market -- big mistake. Not only was it better there than at the "cheese farm" we stopped at (really a shop with no real opportunity to see how the cheese was being made), it was cheaper at the stalls in Alkmaar than in the shop we were taken to visit. Second, he made a big point that we should expect to pay 30 cents to use essentially every rest room throughout Holland. In our week there we never once had to pay! First and foremost, a guide should be accurate. Massimo was not. And then he made a blatant appeal for tips at the end of the tour.

Zaanse Schans had beautiful windmills and cute cottage-style houses. There was a regatta when we went to Volendam so it was interesting to see all the big boats return to harbour. The village was lively, with a lot of nice cafes/bars along the water. Marken had a great little cheese/clog shop. Great day trip!

Great tour, bit rushed. Was lovely to see the windmills and fishing villages but just not enough time. Was very rushed The tour was great if you had limited time and wanted to also see Amsterdam city as well in a day. Good value for price charged.

The trip was fantastic and worth every penny. The guides were informative and kept us interested through out. Another combinaton could be Windmills + Keukenhof :)

I definitely recommend this tour-what a beautiful ride through the country side! You will gain a lot of knowledge about the Netherlands, their farming, purpose of windmills, the Delft pottery making and cheese making via headsets during the drive outside the city. What an amazing day full of adventures-the guides are very informative and fun as well.

We are giving the maximum rating to this tour in spite of the fact that we were really misfortunate in this case.
On Friday, when our tour was scheduled, we managed to miss the bus from the very first stop in the village of Marken. It was both ours and the guide's fault as she didn't communicate the hour to return to the bus in both spoken and written form (as our next guide would) and we got carried away with the cheese and wooden clog presentations, plus the shopping in the store and therefore we missed the departure of the tour bus by five minutes! We had to return to Amsterdam by ourselves and we missed pretty much of the rest of the tour.
But, fortunately for us, when we came back to Amsterdam, we went straight to the agency office and the lady in charge proved to be sympathetic to us (it seems that there are a lot of people who actually miss the tour bus during this trip) and she offered us vouchers for the next day's tour, with no extra charges!
Therefore, we give the agency a high five!
The next day's tour was great and in spite of the windy (cold) weather, we managed to stick to our guide like glue and we didn't miss anything. It was preatty rushed at the Zaanse Schans windmills, but this happened because that day was a Sunday and it was really crowded there!
The trip by boat was rather amazing, with seagulls following us all the way.
Marken and Volendam are two fairy tale villages worth visiting!
Not to mention, our extremely organized guide who managed to keep everybody in place!

Very enjoyable to get out into the countryside. There was too much time spent in Volendam and so it was very rushed thru the Zaanse Schans windmills area.

The windmills were a delight.
Volendam is now just too touristy and over commercialised.

Loved this excursion!!Make sure you'll take the 6 hour tour,you'll have more time to enjoy both beautiful villages Marken and Volendam and the windmills of course!!!one hour makes big difference!!The boat trip was perfect too!!!!

The towns of Marken and Volendam were very cute. It was nice to get a chance to see the countryside. It also was nice to see the windmills at end of the day. They were pretty and it was cool to see that some of them were still being put to use.

Marken, pretty village, watch demonstrations of clog making and cheese making. Ferry to Volendam. Time for fish and chips lunch and shopping. Then Zaanse Schans for windmills, great photo opportunities. Good guide, plenty of time. Highly recommend for that quintessential Dutch experience.

The tour provided very useful information in the tour bus before we arrived at the site. We stopped at Volendam for delicious fish sandwich lunch and Volendam is a very pretty and modern fishing village. The only withdraw back of this tour is the scale of the Zaanse Schans Windmills and cheese factory are very small. Overall is still a worthy trip.

A good tour, just the right amount of free time at the cheese market. Windmills were good, a good 1/2 day

This was a good tour but not enough time for the windmills and there were no people dressed in their native clothing as we were told we would see. The cheese making and wooden shoe making were informative and good demonstrations. Would have liked more time in the little town with the windmills

We loved the tour of the Windmills and Delft was also interesting. The afternoon tour was also good , especially Madurodam which is an amazing accomplishment. Our guide was very pleasant and informative.
